ESC Club Hosts STEM Learning Day for San Diego Navy Families

June 6, 2026 | Chula Vista, California

ESC Club proudly hosted a STEM Learning Day for San Diego Navy Families on June 6, 2026, welcoming approximately 20 Navy families and their children to the ESC Club Chula Vista office for an engaging and educational STEM experience.

The event was organized as part of ESC Club’s ongoing commitment to supporting military families and expanding access to STEM education opportunities throughout the San Diego region. Through hands-on learning activities, youth leadership, and community engagement, participants were introduced to emerging technologies while connecting with fellow Navy families.

The workshop began with opening remarks from Ms. Jaymee Torres, who served as the event’s guest speaker. Ms. Torres shared an inspiring message about the importance of education, perseverance, and community support in helping young people prepare for future academic and career opportunities.

Following the keynote remarks, Tiger and Ming, two ESC Club Navy Youth members, welcomed participants on behalf of the club. Representing the next generation of military-connected student leaders, they expressed appreciation to Navy parents and service members for their dedication and sacrifice while encouraging younger students to explore STEM, leadership, and volunteer opportunities within their communities.

The one-hour workshop was divided into two interactive STEM tracks:

Software Track: Coding and Computational Thinking

Students participated in beginner-friendly coding activities led by ESC Club youth coaches. Through hands-on exercises, participants learned basic programming concepts, problem-solving techniques, and the creative thinking skills that form the foundation of computer science and software development.

Hardware Track: Introduction to 3D Printing Technology

Students explored the exciting world of 3D printing and digital fabrication. ESC Club youth instructors demonstrated how three-dimensional objects are designed and produced using modern manufacturing technologies, providing participants with a firsthand look at one of today’s fastest-growing STEM fields.

To keep the learning experience fun and engaging, the workshop also included interactive STEM quizzes and group discussions. Students enthusiastically participated throughout the program, and small prizes were awarded to quiz winners and active participants.

The event showcased the leadership of ESC Club’s youth volunteers, who planned and delivered both instructional sessions. By allowing students to teach and mentor their peers, the workshop highlighted ESC Club’s belief that young people can become powerful leaders, educators, and role models within their communities.

“We are grateful to all of the Navy families who joined us and to our youth coaches and volunteers who made this event possible,” said ESC Club organizers. “Supporting military families through education and community engagement remains an important part of our mission.”
