Volunteering in Asian Pacific heritage festival day

ESC Club Celebrates Chinese Heritage at San Diego Asian Pacific Cultural Festival
Promoting Cultural Exchange Through Tradition, Art, and Community Engagement

San Diego, CA – May 24, 2025 — Members of the ESC Club proudly volunteered at the 12th Annual Asian Pacific Cultural Festival of San Diego, held at Balboa Park’s International Cottages on May 24, 2025. The event, part of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, brought together communities from across the region to celebrate the rich diversity of Asian and Pacific Islander cultures.

In partnership with Riverview International Academy, ESC Club members welcomed guests to their vibrant booth showcasing traditional Chinese culture. Dressed in elegant Chinese attire, the students invited visitors to experience the beauty of ancient Chinese brush calligraphy.

Festivalgoers of all ages had the unique opportunity to learn how to write their names in Chinese using traditional brush and ink. A highlight of the day was a joyful moment shared with an elderly couple, who were delighted to see their names translated and written in Chinese characters. Many children, some accompanied by their parents, were fascinated to try brush calligraphy for the first time, while a group of international youth tourists expressed excitement as they learned how to hold a brush pen and experience this timeless art form.

Adding to the festive spirit, the ESC Club also brought traditional Chinese “Pipao” clothing, encouraging visitors to dress up and take commemorative photos in beautiful cultural garments. The booth was a vibrant hub for cultural learning and appreciation, with ESC members proudly sharing stories and insights about Chinese traditions.

During the event, ESC Club members had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Greenwell, Principal of Riverview International Academy. The meeting marked the beginning of what the club hopes will be a deeper collaboration on future cultural and STEM exchange initiatives.https://www.lsusd.net/riverview/

“This event was more than just a celebration—it was a bridge between cultures, generations, and communities,” said an ESC Club representative. “We are honored to share our heritage and look forward to working with schools like Riverview to create more opportunities for cultural and educational exchange.”
