Our journey began with the creation of Feed Me Smart, an innovative app designed to help users find affordable, accessible, and healthy food options. We proudly entered Feed Me Smart into the Congressional App Challenge, and it was selected to represent District CA-51, which earned us an opportunity to attend the annual House of Code event held in Washington D.C.
The first day of the event was packed with special panel sessions, interactive workshops, and a vibrant STEM inspiration fair. We had the pleasure of meeting up with fellow members of the App-In Club and students of Dr. Meng, which provided us with a fantastic opportunity to connect and share our experiences. It was awesome getting to learn from technology industry leaders at the panel sessions and workshops. These sessions covered a wide range of topics, from the latest advancements in artificial intelligence to practical advice on career development in the tech industry.
On the second day, we attended an inspiring keynote that congratulated all winning members of the Congressional App Challenge. Following the keynote, we had the opportunity to present our app, Feed Me Smart to lots of exciting people. We showcased our app to students, parents, teachers, industry leaders, and even two members of Congress! We also spent time exploring impressive demos from other participants, gaining valuable insights and inspiration from their innovative projects. It was a very hectic, but thrilling day, and was a great way to end off the House of Code event.
Overall, our trip to Washington, D.C., was an unforgettable experience. Presenting our winning app, Feed Me Smart, and attending various lectures was lots of fun. We connected with other tech enthusiasts and learned a lot from the event. This journey validated our efforts and motivated us to continue making a positive impact through innovation.
