ESC Club Launches Cross-Border MIT App Inventor Coding Program in Tijuana-Fall 2025

San Diego, CA / Tijuana, MX — Fall 2025

The ESC Club successfully expanded its Fall 2025 MIT App Inventor Coding Program to Tijuana, Mexico, partnering with CWB Academy, a local private school, to deliver a 10-session online coding course for middle and high school students.

Running from September 21 to December 13, 2025, the program was held every Sunday afternoon and integrated into CWB Academy’s extracurricular enrichment curriculum. All participating students were full-time CWB Academy students

The course was divided into two key components: five technical coding sessions, focused on hands-on app development using MIT App Inventor, and five case analysis sessions, where students explored real-world app use cases, problem-solving strategies, and user-centered design. Instruction was delivered in English by ESC Club student instructors, with live professional Spanish interpretation provided during every session to ensure accessibility and effective learning.

Students demonstrated strong engagement throughout the program, actively asking questions and participating in live coding demonstrations. ESC Club also identified that several participants are U.S. citizens living in Tijuana, highlighting the importance of cross-border educational access. These students showed a strong interest in learning cutting-edge coding and AI technologies to remain aligned with U.S. academic standards.

Following the program’s success, ESC Club plans to continue and expand cross-border coding and AI education in Tijuana in 2026, reinforcing its commitment to equitable STEM opportunities for youth on both sides of the border.
