San Diego, CA – April 6, 2025 – On April 6th, members of the ESC Club attended one of the most exciting AI-focused events of the year in San Diego. The day was filled with inspiration, hands-on experiences, and meaningful discussions that gave us a glimpse into how AI is reshaping education, innovation, and creativity.

Our schedule for the day started with the MIT FutureMakers Student Innovators Showcase, followed by a seminar and panel with Mathos AI, and wrapped up with interactive demos like Google’s AI Quick Build game and the U.S. Navy’s VR Battle Simulator..
MIT FutureMakers Student Innovators Showcase: AI with Purpose
Our first stop was the MIT FutureMakers Showcase, a program that empowers underrepresented students to create AI-driven solutions for real-world challenges. We got to explore a wide range of student-led projects that were equal parts innovative and inspiring.

Standout examples included an AI food waste tracker, a voice assistant app for visually impaired users, and a journaling platform using sentiment analysis to support teen mental wellness..
“It was amazing to see students our age using AI to make a difference,” one ESC member said. “It really motivated us to think bigger with our own ideas.”
Mathos AI Seminar & Panel: Smarter Math Starts Here
After the showcase, we joined a powerful seminar hosted by Mathos AI, an ed-tech startup focused on reimagining how students learn math through AI. Their platform features a personalized math tutor that allows students to interact in real time by drawing, speaking, or simply circling problems.
A panel discussion led by the App-In-Club president brought together a diverse group of voices—including many K–12 math educators—to explore how AI tools like Mathos can be responsibly integrated into classrooms..
“The feedback from educators really highlighted how AI can support—not replace—teachers,” one ESC member reflected. “It was exciting to see real interest in making learning more engaging.”
Google’s AI Quick Build and Navy’s VR Battle: Fun & Future

As if the day wasn’t exciting enough, we ended with some seriously fun hands-on demos. At Google’s AI Quick Build, we jumped into an interactive game called “AI Judging the Best London Eye.” The challenge? We each had to build our own digital version of the iconic Ferris wheel, and then let Google’s AI decide which was “best” based on style, symmetry, and flair.
We won’t say who the winner was (it got very competitive), but let’s just say the AI had some interesting opinions on architecture.
Later, we geared up for the U.S. Navy’s VR Battle Simulator—an intense, immersive experience where we stepped into a virtual world to command fleets, make tactical decisions, and outsmart AI opponents. It was fast-paced, futuristic, and definitely a highlight for those of us who love gaming and tech.
Final Reflections
For the ESC Club, the San Diego AI Show wasn’t just an event—it was a launchpad. We left feeling more inspired, more curious, and more connected to the future of technology than ever before.
Whether we were exploring student innovations, joining in deep discussions on education, or playing with AI-powered tools, the day reminded us of the exciting possibilities ahead—and our role in shaping them..
