To welcome the 2026 New Year, ESC Club proudly launched its new 3D Printing STEM Program, expanding beyond its established MIT App Inventor coding classes to introduce students and families to cutting-edge 3D technology that bridges STEM education and creative art design.
In partnership with Creative 3D Academy, ESC Club hosted a New Year STEM Workshop at the San Diego Mira Mesa Library, welcoming local families with students ranging from elementary through high school. The event was thoughtfully coordinated by ESC Club members Junpeng, Ziming, Andrew and Alex, reflecting the club’s strong student-led leadership and collaborative spirit.

The workshop was led by Alex Tang, founder of ESC Club, who opened the session by explaining how 3D printing machines work, the types of software used to create digital models, and how 3D technology supports industries such as robotics, engineering, and construction design. Alex also demonstrated live software modeling, helping students understand how ideas are transformed from digital designs into physical objects.

Following the technical introduction, Ms. Xin, founder of Creative 3D Academy, shared how 3D printing is widely used in art and creative design, highlighting student competitions and projects where 3D design plays a central role. Her presentation inspired students to see 3D printing not only as a technical skill, but also as a powerful creative tool.

The highlight of the workshop came when students gathered around the demo table to touch and explore finished 3D-printed objects and watch a printer create a “Dragon Ball” model in real time. The live printing experience sparked excitement and curiosity, making abstract technology tangible and engaging for all ages.

To celebrate the Lunar New Year spirit, ESC Club gifted participating families 3D-printed Chinese New Year icons as special New Year keepsakes—symbolizing innovation, cultural connection, and a bright future.

This outreach event laid a strong foundation for ESC Club’s 2026 STEM initiatives, demonstrating how technology, creativity, and culture can come together to inspire the next generation. Families left energized by the experience, excited to continue exploring new technologies in the year ahead.
